Positioned as a quality trade partner for the Life Sciences industry, assisting product manufacturers who are either seeking to enter or grow their business in our area of influence.

The company was founded in 2005 by Brian Mulcahy, a business executive with over 25 years experience in Life Sciences markets. Based in Bergen, Norway, Mulcahy Consulting maintains an extensive International network of contacts throughout Europe, The Middle East and North Africa.

Development of brand strategies and marketing plan

Start the sales cycle with target distributors, identify the decision makers, define the purchase process, presentation of the client range, advantages etc.

Manage visits to potential distributors

Selection of preferred distributors and conclusion of Distribution Agreements.

Closing initial product orders

The objective of the business development process is to close incremental business in the target market for the client.

Sales team training

Once business has commenced, we either manage the hand-over to the client, or remain involved offering some ‘growth-phase’ services:

  • Actively pursue all sales opportunities received through client’s website.
  • Manage the sales development cycle for new distributors, refining the messaging and process.
  • Act as client’s brand ambassador, in effect, a virtual representative of the company.
  • Plan, execute and/or attend industry tradeshows as direct representatives of client.
  • Act as a resource for any question or challenge related to ongoing business development.

Who we are

Prior to setting up Mulcahy Consulting in 2005, Brian held a series of senior international management positions. Responsibilities have included: setting up and managing the Ireland based European distribution centre of a US medical distribution company; building up and managing sales teams; new product development with international teams from the US, the Far east and Europe; market research and business development planning; customer and sales staff training, export development projects, e-Comm transition projects, pandemic related recovery strategies.
Brian is a graduate of the University of Limerick where he holds a degree in Business Studies with a specialization in Financial Services. He is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese, French and Norwegian. Having worked extensively with clients in Europe, the Middle East and the US, Brian combines a deep knowledge of business and cultural practices with his expert knowledge of and contacts in the European medical distribution environment.

From his own experience within the medical device and OTC pharmacy markets Brian has seen and met many companies who, though significant players in their domestic markets, have failed to gain successful penetration internationally. The main reasons for this failure is often a lack of market knowledge and contacts rather than any lack of commitment or product quality. Without an understanding of the differences between the various markets, and how to correctly market their products internationally, these companies often meet with limited success. Mulcahy Consulting's purpose is to get them over this hurdle, and win profitable incremental business internationally.

Brian has served as President of the Caceres Irish Fleadh which runs the largest Irish Music Fleadh in Europe each year.
